Welcome to Hearth & Story’s Poetry Level 7-8 homeschool course—where middle school students expand their understanding of the art of poetry! This course builds on earlier levels by introducing students to more advanced poetry reading, analysis of poetry forms, and even their own poetry writing exercises.
 
This course features a mini anthology of 28 carefully selected poems, each chosen to challenge and inspire students while remaining as accessible and engaging as possible. As they read, write, and analyze, students will sharpen their understanding of poetry while also exploring figurative language and poetic structure in greater depth. In addition to guided lessons, this course includes a few poetry writing activities, encouraging students to experiment with their own poetic voice.
Hearth & Story Poetry Level 7-8 is designed to be used alongside the Hearth & Story Literary Terms Flashcard Set, available separately in our online store. This is the same set used in our 5th and 6th grade poetry courses, so if you already own it, there’s no need to purchase it again.
 
With engaging analysis, creative exercises, and a thoughtfully curated collection of poems, this course will help students develop a deeper appreciation for poetry while building confidence in their own writing and analysis skills.
